چکیده

Atrazine is one of the most used herbicides and its over-application in fields can affect soils their associated biota. In this work, earthworms (Eisenia fetida) were exposed to different concentrations atrazine assess possible sublethal harmful effects. search for reliable biomarkers these effects, acetylcholinesterase (AChE), alkaline phosphatase (ALP) lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) activities measured as well behaviour population biological parameters such biomass, growth production cocoons. It was found that biomass changes not significantly affected by presence after 28 days increment around 18.3–27.3%. Protein content reduced days. The lower concentration (2 mg Kg?1) shortest term (7 days) rate cocoon increased LDH activity and, especially, AChE 40%. a higher (10 herbicide third number total cocoons, affecting reproduction. ALP least sensitive biomarker exposure. When up 10 Kg?1 atrazine, E. fetida showed tendency rebalance maintained general health.

Effects of bifenthrin exposure in soil on whole-organism endpoints and biomarkers of earthworm Eisenia fetida.

In this study, toxic effects of bifenthrin in soil on earthworms were evaluated by acute and chronic toxic endpoints combined with a set of biomarkers. Bifenthrin was moderately toxic in 72-h filter paper test and low toxic in 14-d soil test. The exposure of earthworms to bifenthrin-polluted soil for 8 weeks showed that cocoons were inhibited by high dose of bifenthrin, and larvae were stimulat...

Toxicity and bioaccumulation of ethofumesate enantiomers in earthworm Eisenia fetida.

Earthworms represent an important food source for many vertebrates and as a result, predators may encounter toxic effects via the food chain from consumption of contaminated worms. Therefore, including an assessment of xenobiotic to worms in risk assessment procedures is advisable. Here we studied the acute toxicity, bioaccumulation and elimination of ethofumesate enantiomers in earthworm, Eise...

Lysosomal response of earthworm (Eisenia fetida) coelomocytes to the fungicide copper oxychloride and relation to life-cycle parameters.

Juvenile specimens of the earthworm species Eisenia fetida Savigny, 1826, were exposed in the laboratory to a range of concentrations of the fungicide copper oxychloride. After an eight-week exposure period, the neutral-red retention (NRR) times were measured in the coelomocytes of all the worms that had matured. Life-cycle traits (survival, biomass change, cocoon production, cocoon mass, hatch...

Annotation of nerve cord transcriptome in earthworm Eisenia fetida

In annelid worms, the nerve cord serves as a crucial organ to control the sensory and behavioral physiology. The inadequate genome resource of earthworms has prioritized the comprehensive analysis of their transcriptome dataset to monitor the genes express in the nerve cord and predict their role in the neurotransmission and sensory perception of the species. The present study focuses on identi...

Glycosylated trypsin-like proteases from earthworm Eisenia fetida.

Although groups of earthworm proteases have been found by several laboratories, it is still unclear how many of the isolated trypsin-like fibrinolytic enzymes are in glycosylated form. Here, eight glycosylated fibrinolytic proteases (EfP-0-1, EfP-0-2, EfP-I-1, EfP-I-2, EfP-II-1, EfP-II-2, EfP-III-1 and EfP-III-2) were isolated from an earthworm species (Eisenia fetida) through a stepwise-purifi...
